Herbal medicine is a very powerful tool which, when used correctly by a skilled and trained provider, can be used to help the body correct a wide range of health issues. We are pleased to be able to provide this service to our patients

What kinds of herbs will I get?

This is a tough question to answer, as herbs and herbal formulas come in a wide range of forms and preparations. Typically, your herbs will be a pill, a capsule or a liquid (either a tincture for consumption, or a topical remedy), though some patients prefer to take certain formulas a powders. Many formulas are available in different forms, so if you have trouble taking it one way, we may be able to find another.

Is there a difference between Chinese herbs and Japanese herbs?

The short answer is no, not really. Both draw from the same primary sources, and therefore utilize many of the same herbs. Over the centuries, differences have developed in terms of herb selections and formula choices, and some variations exist in terms of dosages, etc. The fundamental purpose of both Chinese and Japanese herbal medicine is to help the body return to a state of balanced health.

Do I have to take herbs?

No, you never have to take anything! Herbs, or other nutritional supplements, will only be recommended if necessary to your treatment. However, many patients have found that adding the appropriate herbal formulas to their plan of care dramatically improves the process. And, there are certain conditions where the best outcomes are achieved by combining treatment modalities, such as pairing acupuncture treatments with an appropriate herbal medicine.
